Forget your idea of “dating”. Germans generally go out in groups, make friends until two of them get to know each other better and will start a relationship.
Started by redpoppy , 20 Sep Posted 20 Sep I recently went out with an exchange student from Berlin. We were chatting for 5 hours and I think I like him a lot. My question is how does dating work in Germany? I’m American and have never dated anyone from Germany. Usually American guys make all the moves and the girl just waits for him to call if he’s interested in her; if he doesn’t call her he’s not interested. Is this the same in Germany?
I heard that German guys are sometimes more shy and will wait for the girl to make the move and call about a second date. Is this true? Or can I assume that if he doesn’t call he has no interest in me? I would think that if he is a German exchange student, studying in the US, he’d be asking his buddies about dating etiquette in the States.
